The Quantity Surveyor will be part of the Advisory and Programme Delivery (APD) unit focused on sectors including Built Environment, Defence, Energy, Water, Transportation, and Health. This role supports commercial management of projects within the Environment and Water (ENW) portfolio, working closely with advisory and programme management teams to meet client deliverables.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage commercial aspects of one or multiple projects, ensuring delivery within budget, schedule, and quality standards.
- Prepare monthly financial reports, including actuals, variances, accruals, and annual budget assessments.
- Identify, assess, and report on project risks, and develop mitigation measures.
- Advise on commercial strategies and engage in dispute avoidance and resolution activities.
- Review subcontractor proposals and acceptance recommendations.
- Evaluate compensation events and monthly payment applications.
- Provide commercial auditing and guide junior team members through mentorship.
Candidate Profile
Essential qualifications and skills:
- Preferably degree-educated in a relevant field.
- Capable of working independently and collaboratively within teams.
- Proficient with IT tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills, including report writing and presenting.
- Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, stakeholders, colleagues, and supply chain partners.
- Adaptability and willingness to travel to client sites and various offices.
Desirable attributes:
- Chartered Quantity Surveyor (MRICS) status or active pursuit thereof, with dedication to Continuing Professional Development (CPD).
- Experience in cost planning within cost consultancy or multidisciplinary environments.
- Knowledge of contract administration, cost estimation, and NEC contracts.
- Background in water, environmental, or regulated industry projects.
