About ALS and the Role

We are currently seeking a Quality Manager based in Clonmel, County Tipperary, Ireland, to lead our Quality team and uphold the rigorous standards expected in a scientific setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the current Quality team to ensure top performance.
- Oversee all aspects of quality assurance at the site, maintaining compliance with ISO 17025 accreditation, INAB regulations, DAFM, DAERA, RSA, and client-specific requirements.
- Administer and monitor the electronic Quality Management System (eQMS) to ensure consistent functionality.
- Coordinate and drive the closure of corrective and preventive actions related to anomalies, complaints, out-of-specifications (OOS), laboratory investigations, and audits within designated timelines.
- Take ownership of managing all external audits including preparation, management reporting, and follow-up actions for any findings.
- Conduct internal audits, ensuring scheduling adherence and completion of necessary corrective measures as required.
- Manage change control and risk assessment protocols, ensuring timely completion of assigned tasks.
- Organize annual Quality Management System reviews and enforce completion of established action plans.
- Support laboratory operations by managing equipment records, ensuring calibration, labeling, and maintenance schedules are current.
- Ensure quality requirements are consistently met and look for opportunities to improve procedures and systems.
- Communicate key quality information effectively with the management team.
- Provide monthly quality performance reports to the Group Quality Manager.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Possession of a scientific degree and strong analytical skills for problem-solving.
- In-depth knowledge of Quality Management Systems and ISO 17025 standards, with an ability to effect change within Microbiology and Chemistry laboratories.
- At least five years’ experience managing and maintaining quality systems in a laboratory or technical environment.
- Experience with internal audits and managing non-conformances for continuous improvement.
- Ability to independently manage projects and meet strict deadlines.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities and interpersonal skills.
- Capability to influence opinions and establish standards.
- Good understanding of the food industry and client testing requirements.
- Proficient computer and reporting skills, with attention to detail and strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Highly motivated, passionate about new challenges, and a fast learner.
