Quality Inspector - Machining Facility

Job Summary

This role entails overseeing all quality assurance and quality control activities within the machining and threading facility dedicated to machine components. The Quality Inspector will be instrumental in performing quality assessments, maintaining detailed quality records, and managing organizational duties to enhance operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct incoming material inspections and verify compliance with specifications.
• Inspect and ensure that 10% of each batch of threaded connections or parts conform to engineering drawings.
• Make decisions regarding the acceptance or rejection of machined and finished parts.
• Provide technical support to machinists related to quality issues.
• Gain and maintain familiarity with quality standards, procedures, and specifications.
• Organize qualification and requalification processes for Premium connections, including validation controls.
• Utilize the GP portal for job authorizations, generating procurement forms, and submitting calibration requests electronically.
• Maintain daily logs and processing paperwork accurately.
• Perform any reasonable additional duties as assigned by the Operations Supervisor.
• Verify phosphate connection processes as per work instructions, ensuring proper control over the phosphate process.
• Conduct daily titrations following defined procedures.
• Provide guidance to phosphate operators to ensure compliance with full process requirements.
• Accurately verify parts and work orders; assist in root-cause analysis of faulty materials or assemblies; support shop, assembly, and personnel operations; provide training for staff as needed.
• Manage calibration cycles, calibrate gauges and instruments, and review calibration certificates.
• Review mill test certificates for procured and customer-supplied materials.
• Supply customers with drawings for manufactured products.
• Examine work orders and specifications for each order received.
• Finalize inspection of serviced goods and issue Certificates of Conformity (COC).
• Maintain and update the Tubular tracking sheets to ensure accuracy.
• Ensure the organization and preservation of all quality records to high standards.

Experience and Qualifications

• Minimum of high school education or equivalent; diploma or degree in Engineering preferred.
• At least two years of experience inspecting Rotary Shoulder Connections (such as API, Grant Prideco, Tenaris) on products including Drill Pipe, HWDP, Drill Collars, and Drill Stem Components or similar machinery components.
• Proficient command of the English language in reading, writing, and speaking.
• Strong technical knowledge of machine shop practices.
• Ability to read and interpret technical specifications and drawings to standards including API, Grant Prideco, DS1, VAM, among others.
