Job description

Role Overview

The Quality Inspector is tasked with performing and supporting quality assurance activities for gas turbine components. This includes conducting in-process inspections, final product inspections, preparing inspection reports, and overseeing packaging inspections. The role ensures adherence to manufacturing and quality requirements based on approved guidelines, engineering specifications, and quality standards.

Core Responsibilities

  • Conduct quality inspections following established work instructions, quality plans, and process criteria.
  • Review final inspection reports to verify accuracy, completeness, and conformity with quality standards.
  • Promptly raise and escalate quality issues that may affect product integrity, process compliance, or customer expectations.
  • Initiate and support Non-Conformance Report (NCR) processes to control defective products or deviations.
  • Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective actions for recurring or major quality concerns.
  • Maintain process compliance and discipline to support comprehensive line-based quality control.
  • Interpret technical documentation including work instructions, engineering drawings, and specifications to enable precise inspections.
  • Accurately record inspection outcomes and maintain documentation in line with quality requirements.
  • Utilize measurement tools, gauges, and inspection equipment safely and effectively.
  • Identify and help manage nonconforming conditions including containment, documentation, and escalation steps.
  • Follow Standard Work practices and combination sheets to ensure consistent quality, safety, and efficient workflow.
  • Maintain workplace organization and safety in accordance with 5S principles.
  • Apply Lean manufacturing principles consistently in daily activities.
  • Engage actively in problem solving, RCA, and corrective measures to resolve quality and process issues.
  • Identify continuous improvement opportunities related to safety, quality, throughput, and waste minimization.
  • Support enhancements to standard work, line organization, visual controls, and process discipline for advancing Lean implementation.
  • Contribute towards improving line operational efficiency, performance, and overall productivity.
  • Operate within takt, cycle time, and standardized process flow goals to align with production targets.
  • Use shop floor digital systems such as ELM, SmartShop, and MyAndon platforms as needed.
  • Comply with company policies on quality, safety, procedures, and standard work at all times.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Diploma, technical college certificate or equivalent practical experience.
  • Knowledge or prior experience in welding quality inspection.
  • Preferably 2 or more years working with gas turbine or other precision aerospace/industrial components.
  • Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) certification/license is considered advantageous.
