Job Overview

The CNC Machinist will support machining and finishing activities on gas turbine parts, including processes such as post-braze inspection, EDM, steam cleaning, preparation for grit blasting, vision inspection, coating polishing, and laser hole clearing. The role prioritizes safety and accuracy while emphasizing Lean methodologies to drive continuous improvement in safety, quality, delivery, and productivity.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain equipment including EDM, MKG, CNC machines, and automatic polishers following established work instructions and quality standards.
• Interpret and utilize work instructions, technical documents, and engineering drawings to accurately perform tasks.
• Document process and inspection data precisely as required.
• Setup and monitor CNC, EDM, laser, polishing, and inspection tools ensuring safety and operational efficiency.
• Inspect components pre- and post-machining and finishing steps to verify adherence to quality criteria.
• Follow Standard Work protocols to maintain consistent quality, safety, and efficient production flow.
• Keep the workspace clean and organized in line with 5S standards.
• Apply Lean principles consistently throughout daily operations.
• Perform grit blasting processes when required.
• Identify and communicate opportunities to enhance safety, quality, cycle time, flow, and minimize waste.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives including standard work enhancements, visual management, and process discipline.
• Engage in team efforts to optimize line performance and overall productivity.
• Maintain production flow within takt time and standard process expectations.
• Utilize shop floor IT systems such as ELM and SmartShop as necessary.
• Comply rigorously with company policies on quality, safety, procedures, and standard work.

Candidate Qualifications

• Diploma, technical college degree, or equivalent practical experience in machining or related industrial fields.
• Working knowledge of CNC machining, EDM, laser machining, finishing techniques or similar manufacturing operations.

Desired Experience and Skills

• At least 2 years’ experience involving steam cleaning, grit blasting, and manual or automated coating polishing processes.
• Minimum 2 years working with gas turbine components or precision aerospace and industrial parts.
• Experience operating HAAS or comparable VTB/VTL/VFB machines, lathes, or milling machines.
