Job description
Position Overview
The Quality Inspector is tasked with overseeing quality assurance activities related to gas turbine components. This includes conducting in-process inspections, final quality verifications, generating comprehensive reports, and inspecting packaging to guarantee conformity to manufacturing standards, engineering requirements, approved work instructions, specifications, and quality benchmarks.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Execute quality inspections following approved work instructions, process requirements, and quality plans.
- Examine and validate final inspection reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and compliance with quality standards.
- Promptly raise and escalate quality concerns that could affect product integrity, process adherence, or customer needs.
- Initiate and assist with Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) to document and manage deviations in products or processes.
- Participate in root cause analysis (RCA) and corrective action plans for addressing prominent or recurring quality problems.
- Maintain strict inspection discipline and quality control across all production lines.
- Interpret work instructions, technical drawings, specifications, and quality documents accurately for effective inspections.
- Document inspection outcomes, findings, and maintain related quality records.
- Utilize inspection tools, gauges, and measurement devices safely and proficiently.
- Identify and manage nonconformities through containment, documentation, escalation, and follow-up actions.
- Follow Standard Work procedures and Standard Work Combination Sheets to uphold safety, consistency, quality, and production flow.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and well-arranged workspace in line with 5S methodology.
- Apply Lean principles diligently and support continuous improvement efforts in daily operations.
- Engage actively in problem-solving, root cause analyses, and corrective actions for quality or process issues.
- Highlight and communicate opportunities to enhance safety, quality, cycle times, process flow, and waste reduction.
- Help improve standard work, team organization, visual management, and process discipline to strengthen Lean implementation.
- Contribute to enhancing production line performance, operational efficiencies, and overall productivity.
- Operate effectively within takt time, cycle time, and standardized process flows to meet production objectives.
- Use shop floor IT systems such as ELM, SmartShop, and MyAndon when required.
- Adhere strictly to company quality policies, safety standards, procedures, and standardized work instructions.
Required Qualifications
- Diploma, technical college degree, or equivalent practical experience.
- Familiarity or work experience in welding quality inspection.
Preferred Qualifications
- At least two years of experience with gas turbine components or other precision aerospace or industrial parts.
- Certification in NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) considered advantageous.
