About the Job
We are seeking a Quality Engineer to oversee third-party inspection duties within a heavy fabrication environment at the customer's manufacturing facility. Ideal candidates will possess between two to four years of experience, holding a Diploma, B.E., or B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or related fields, preferably within heavy fabrication, engineering, or manufacturing sectors.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute quality assurance and quality control inspections along with third-party assessments, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and inspection test plans (ITP).
- Perform detailed dimensional measurements, fabrication, and welding inspections to validate product integrity.
- Assess and verify welding procedures (WPS/PQR/WPQ), material test certificates (MTC), traceability details, and weld documentation.
- Coordinate and supervise non-destructive testing methods including ultrasonic (UT), magnetic particle (MT), penetrant (PT), and radiographic tests (RT).
- Inspect surface preparation quality, painting, and dry film thickness (DFT) as applicable.
- Identify and report non-conformance reports (NCRs), facilitate corrective action plans, and monitor their completion.
- Prepare comprehensive inspection reports, maintain quality documentation, and generate daily/weekly quality summaries.
- Support root cause analysis activities such as RCA, CAPA, 5 Why, and 8D techniques to drive continuous quality improvements.
- Collaborate with customer's Quality, Production, Welding, and Engineering teams to ensure compliance with standards and client requirements.
Candidate Profile
- Two to four years of relevant experience in QA/QC or quality inspection, preferably in heavy or structural fabrication or heavy engineering.
- Proficient understanding of welding processes and dimensional inspection techniques.
- Effective communication, report-writing, and analytical problem-solving abilities.
- Willingness to work onsite at customer locations and adapt to shift work schedules as necessitated.
- Certifications as an ISO 9001 Internal Auditor or Welding Inspector will be regarded favorably.
Minimum education
Diploma / ITI / Vocational
