Role Overview

The Calypso Quality Engineer will be tasked with verifying the functionality, performance, and robustness of the Calypso trading and clearing system. This includes performing functional, integration, and regression tests to ensure high-quality outputs that support business-as-usual changes, system enhancements, and platform upgrades.

Team Environment

You will join a high-achieving engineering team within ASX’s Technology and Delivery division. This team designs, builds, and maintains scalable and resilient platforms critical to market infrastructure, working closely with product and operations units to ensure systems are secure, efficient, and continuously improving.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct functional, regression, and integration tests for Calypso platform updates and releases.
• Validate complete trade lifecycle processes including capture, clearing, settlement, and reporting.
• Create and execute detailed test cases, scenarios, and regression test suites based on business requirements.
• Perform data verification and reconciliation across trade and downstream systems using SQL.
• Support various test cycles such as system integration testing (SIT), user acceptance testing (UAT), and release validations, including defect identification and resolution.
• Collaborate with development and business analysis teams to analyze and address defects.
• Assist in production release activities and subsequent validation efforts.
• Participate in test automation efforts and integrate with continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines.
• Document testing outcomes, defects, and evidence to support governance and audit requirements.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

• 5–6 years of robust experience in functional testing focused on the Calypso platform.
• Comprehensive knowledge of capital markets products and trade lifecycle including FX, Fixed Income, and Derivatives.
• Proficient with automation testing tools such as CATT, Selenium, Playwright, and API testing frameworks.
• Strong skills in SQL for data validation tasks.
• Experience with test management software like JIRA and Xray or equivalents.
• Comfortable navigating Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Excellent problem-solving, debugging, and analytical capabilities.

Desirable:

• Familiarity with Calypso workflows, application programming interfaces (APIs), and integrations (e.g., MarkitWire, downstream systems).
• Experience handling FIX protocol messages.
• Understanding of performance testing, non-functional testing, and capacity validation.
• Knowledge of ITIL frameworks, including incident, problem, and change management processes.
• Experience working within Agile and Scrum development environments.
