Qualified Person (Supervision) - Structural/Civil Engineering

About the Role

Arup is seeking a Qualified Person – Supervision with expertise in Structural and Civil engineering to fulfill critical responsibilities ensuring construction projects are completed compliant with approved structural drawings, statutory mandates, and industry standards. This role involves professional oversight of structural, geotechnical, and architectural site works, preserving design intentions while upholding exemplary standards in safety, quality, and adherence to regulations. Close collaboration with fellow Qualified Persons, contractors, regulatory bodies, and project stakeholders is essential to deliver structurally sound and resilient infrastructure across Singapore.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform Qualified Person (Supervision) duties compliant with Building and Construction Authority (BCA) Singapore guidelines, overseeing structural, geotechnical, and architectural elements during construction phases.
• Conduct frequent site inspections ensuring conformity to approved plans, legal frameworks, project quality benchmarks, safety norms, and environmental standards.
• Track construction schedules, workmanship quality, and contractor compliance; proactively identify and escalate issues including non-conformances, technical challenges, and risk factors.
• Document site activities meticulously through supervision logs, compliance records, photographic evidence, and weekly progress reports.
• Engage with contractors, government authorities, consultants, and internal project teams to address and resolve issues pertaining to site conditions, design queries, and regulatory compliance, facilitating smooth project progress.

Candidate Profile

• Degree recognized by the Professional Engineers Board (PEB) Singapore, along with registration with Building and Construction Authority (BCA) and Joint Accreditation Committee (JAC), including institutions such as IES and ACES.
• Minimum of five years’ experience fulfilling Qualified Person (Supervision) responsibilities aligned with BCA standards, involving comprehensive supervision of structural, geotechnical, and architectural activities.
• In-depth understanding of Singapore’s civil and structural engineering regulations, codes, standards, and construction supervision protocols.
• Demonstrated proficiency in resolving on-site technical issues, generating detailed progress documentation, and maintaining accurate records.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and stakeholder management capabilities, with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and effectiveness in both technical and non-technical communication contexts.
