About the Role
As a Qualified Helicopter Instructor (QHI) at Ascent Flight Training based in Shawbury, you will join a dedicated team of instructors accredited by CFS with a B1 or higher instructional category. You will collaborate closely with military partners to train military pilots using modern synthetic training devices and the Airbus H135 and H145 helicopters. This position offers a unique, rewarding experience in cutting-edge flight instruction.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver mass briefing ground theory lessons.
- Teach fundamental and advanced helicopter flight techniques using state-of-the-art synthetic simulators.
- Provide instruction on courses ranging from beginner ab-initio flights to advanced tactical military training programs for all three armed services.
- Support crewman training flights as required by piloting specific syllabus sorties.
- Oversee flight operations, promoting the ‘Just’ flight safety culture at RAF Shawbury.
- Continuously enhance course materials and improve the instructional environment.
Qualifications and Skills
- Possession of Qualified Helicopter Instructor certification from previous UK military employment or CFS(H) recommendation for QHI certification.
- Capability to deliver superior instruction integrating modern simulators and aircraft technology.
- Ability to develop and upgrade instructional skills within the new aircraft platforms.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills essential for cooperation with military and internal teams.
- Excellent presentation skills adaptable to diverse audiences including customers and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated courage, problem-solving ability, and decisive decision-making skills.
- Hold either a civilian Class 1 medical certificate or a valid military Annual Medical.
- Commitment to ongoing courseware development and continuous professional improvement.

Salary Details
