Role Overview
We are seeking a full-time Drone Pilot Instructor at our Vishakhapatnam site, specifically for the Small Class UAS category under a recognized RPTO. The instructor will conduct theoretical lessons, simulator training, and practical flight sessions for remote pilot candidates in compliance with DGCA regulations and RPTO guidelines. Responsibilities include teaching ground classes, performing flight demos, supervising trainee flights, managing pre- and post-flight briefings and assessments, maintaining documentation, and supporting training quality assurance.
Responsibilities
- Deliver comprehensive theoretical, simulator, and practical drone pilot training per DGCA and RPTO standards.
- Lead classroom instructions and live flight demonstrations for trainee pilots.
- Supervise flying exercises ensuring compliance with safety procedures, airspace rules, and aircraft limitations.
- Conduct trainee evaluations including competency assessments and briefing sessions.
- Maintain accurate records such as attendance, training progress, flight logs, and instructor documentation.
- Coordinate with senior instructors to uphold training standards and assist in operational duties assigned by RPTO management.
- Ensure proper handling and maintenance of UAS equipment, simulators, batteries, reporting any defects or safety issues.
- Participate in recurrent training and standardization sessions to maintain instructional proficiency.
Requirements
- Minimum educational qualification of 10th grade or equivalent; advanced diplomas or degrees in Engineering, Aviation, Electronics, Mechatronics, or related fields are preferred.
- Possession of a valid Remote Pilot Certificate (RPC) for Small Class UAS consistent with RPTO's approved training scope.
- Completion of DGCA-recognized instructor training and approval to operate as an instructor.
- Strong practical skills in manual and automated UAS operation, including mission planning and emergency procedures.
- Comprehensive understanding of DGCA UAS regulations, Drone Rules, Digital Sky platform, airspace restrictions, and RPTO training mandates.
- Technical expertise with UAS components such as flight controllers, propulsion, batteries, GNSS, communications, GCS, payloads, and troubleshooting.
- Proficiency in delivering classroom, simulator, and practical flight instruction along with assessments and student debriefs.
- Ability to manage detailed training documentation and logs relevant to the RPTO's requirements.
- Effective communication skills in English and Hindi or local languages suitable for trainees.
- Previous experience in UAS operations, flight instruction, aviation, defense, or technical roles is advantageous; preference for candidates with Small Class UAS flying or instructional background.
- Physically and medically fit to perform outdoor instructional and flight activities.
- Compliance with all DGCA eligibility, competency, certification, and recurrent training criteria for Remote Pilot Instructors as defined by the RPTO.
