QA Automation Engineer - Playwright

Overview

We seek a proficient and meticulous Senior QA Automation Engineer specializing in Playwright, Java Selenium, Java Cucumber, and contemporary test automation methodologies. This role involves designing scalable test automation frameworks, creating automated test suites, API and backend validations, and ensuring software quality through continuous testing integrated within CI/CD pipelines.

The position requires active cooperation with Product Owners, Developers, Business Analysts, and DevOps teams within an Agile environment.

Key Duties

• Design, build, and uphold robust automation frameworks utilizing Playwright (JavaScript/TypeScript), Selenium WebDriver with Java, and Cucumber BDD Framework.
• Develop and execute automated test scripts covering functional, regression, end-to-end, smoke, sanity, and cross-browser testing.
• Embed automation testing within Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines, facilitating release validation.
• Create reusable automation components and utilities to enhance testing efficiency and scalability.
• Perform API testing using Postman, REST Assured, or similar tools and validate backend data via SQL queries and database testing.
• Analyze requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria to formulate detailed test scenarios and cases.
• Identify defects, conduct root cause analysis, track issue resolution collaboratively with development teams.
• Review automation code to enforce best practices, naming conventions, and framework standards.
• Monitor test execution outcomes, manage test metrics, and produce quality reports for stakeholders.
• Engage actively in Agile Scrum processes including planning, daily scrums, backlog grooming, reviews, and retrospectives.
• Mentor junior QA engineers and contribute to ongoing QA process improvements.
• Support additional testing areas like performance, security, and accessibility when required.

Required Technical Expertise

• Advanced skills in Playwright (JavaScript/TypeScript), Selenium WebDriver with Java, and Cucumber BDD Framework.
• Experience with TestNG / JUnit test frameworks.
• Proficient in Java and JavaScript/TypeScript programming languages.
• API testing proficiencies including REST API, Postman, REST Assured, JSON/XML validation.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps tools; Azure DevOps Pipelines, Git, GitHub, Azure Repos, continuous testing methodologies.
• Database testing skills using SQL, data validation, reconciliation, and query optimization.
• Familiarity with Agile tools such as Azure DevOps Boards, Jira, and Confluence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Practical experience building Playwright automation frameworks from the ground up.
• Exposure to cloud platforms like Azure or AWS.
• Knowledge of Docker and containerized testing approaches aligned with modern DevOps.
• Familiarity with performance testing via JMeter.
• Experience testing enterprise-grade applications, web portals, APIs, and reporting solutions.
• Understanding of test automation design patterns and framework architectures.
• Exposure to analytics or reporting tools such as Power BI and Grafana is advantageous.

Education
