Role Overview
We seek a Python engineer to join our team building AI-driven features for our platform used by thousands of customers. The focus is on developing and scaling an independent Python AI service that integrates with large language model (LLM) providers, queries analytical databases, and delivers intelligent, real-time responses to users.
Location
This role is based in Dublin, Ireland, with a hybrid work setup requiring presence in the office two days per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and enhance a production-level Python AI service.
- Implement LLM tool integration, agentic loops, and prompt engineering techniques.
- Design and conduct evaluations of LLMs to ensure sustained quality amid evolving features.
- Perform SQL queries on analytical databases to ground AI responses in real data.
- Monitor and optimize LLM cost and usage metrics.
- Collaborate within defined service boundaries alongside a Rails backend.
Required Skills and Expertise
- Professional experience of over 3 years in developing Python production services.
- Proficiency with LLM APIs covering tool usage, structured outputs, and prompt design.
- Strong skills in writing SQL queries against analytical databases.
- Familiarity with asynchronous Python programming and HTTP streaming.
- Sound security awareness including prompt injection, personally identifiable information (PII) management, and service-to-service authentication.
- Ability to incorporate AI coding assistants into workflow while exercising sound judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ClickHouse or other columnar analytical database systems.
- Knowledge of agentic system architectures including multi-step tool invocation, context handling, and memory management.
- Understanding of GDPR requirements concerning LLMs, especially regarding PII transmitted to external providers.
- Experience using Airflow or comparable data pipeline orchestration tools.
- Some background with Rails or the Ruby language.
- Awareness of regulations such as the EU AI Act.
