Role Overview

As a Mid-Level Ruby on Rails Engineer, you will play a vital role within the engineering team focused on developing and enhancing the platform that enables businesses to efficiently manage their employees. Collaboration with product managers, designers, QA, and fellow engineers is key to translating product visions and user requirements into robust, well-crafted software components. You will have the chance to engage with various platform areas, sharpen your technical abilities, and oversee impactful projects from inception through deployment.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, test, and maintain reliable Ruby on Rails applications adhering to strong engineering standards.
• Partner with Product and Engineering teams to interpret requirements, decompose challenges, and deliver customer-centric solutions.
• Create and maintain APIs and system integrations, enhancing quality, documentation, and uniformity across platforms.
• Contribute to quality assurance by writing automated tests and partaking in code reviews to uphold maintainability and production readiness.
• Investigate and resolve software bugs, performance bottlenecks, and technical issues with a methodical approach.
• Communicate effectively within multidisciplinary teams and engage in constructive technical discussions.
• Advocate for continual codebase and process enhancements to optimize team efficiency.
• Advance your Ruby, Rails, and broader engineering knowledge while steadily assuming greater technical responsibilities.

Technical Environment

The technology stack includes Ruby on Rails as the backend foundation, React for frontend interfaces, MySQL/PostgreSQL for data storage, analytics through ClickHouse and BigQuery, Redis and Sidekiq for asynchronous processing, AWS infrastructure, CI/CD with Git workflows, automated testing, monitoring, security tooling, and integration with AI technologies such as Anthropic/OpenAI LLM APIs.

Candidate Requirements

• 2 to 5 years of professional experience in software development focusing on Ruby on Rails applications in production environments.
• Strong grasp of object-oriented programming concepts, software design best practices, maintainable coding, version control, and testing.
• Experience developing and integrating RESTful APIs and managing cross-system connections.
• Proficiency with relational databases and SQL, preferably PostgreSQL or equivalent.
• Familiarity with automated testing, particularly using frameworks like RSpec.
• Analytical mindset for diagnosing and resolving technical problems pragmatically.
• Effective communicator who can collaborate successfully within engineering and cross-functional teams.
• Self-driven learner who embraces responsibility and strives for continuous professional development.
• Experience with AI-supported coding tools utilized within daily workflows.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of React or other modern JavaScript frameworks.
• Experience with cloud services such as AWS.
• Background with background job processing, messaging, or event-driven architecture patterns.
• Prior involvement with third-party system integrations.
• Testing experience using automation tools like Cypress or Robot Framework.
• Familiarity with mobile development frameworks, e.g., React Native.
• Insight into AI technologies, LLM integration, or Model Context Protocol.
• Exposure to SaaS product environments.

This position reports directly to a Team Lead, who in turn reports to the Chief Product and Technology Officer (CPTO).
