Purchasing Officer

Job Summary

We are seeking a Purchasing Officer located in Lekki, Lagos, to join our retail supermarket team on a full-time onsite basis. This role focuses on acquiring products efficiently and cost-effectively to support daily supermarket operations, requiring strong supplier management and local market insight.

Key Duties

• Acquire products needed for supermarket operations, ensuring quality and pricing standards are met.
• Establish and nurture relationships with suppliers and vendors.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery timelines to optimize costs.
• Work closely with the inventory team to maintain appropriate stock levels.
• Source potential new suppliers and regularly assess vendor performance.
• Generate purchase orders and maintain comprehensive procurement records.
• Check deliveries against purchase orders and resolve any discrepancies.
• Stay updated on market trends to suggest alternative products or suppliers when necessary.
• Adhere to company purchasing policies and procedures.
• Compile purchasing reports and participate in other assignments from management.

Qualifications and Experience

• At least an OND certificate in Business Administration, Purchasing & Supply, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years purchasing or procurement experience in a supermarket or retail setting.
• Hands-on experience sourcing various supermarket products and managing supplier relations.
• Good understanding of the Lagos supplier market and commercial hubs.
• Strong negotiation, communication, and organizational capabilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
• Ability to work autonomously while managing multiple purchasing responsibilities simultaneously.
• Must be available to work onsite in Lekki, Lagos.

Compensation and Benefits

• Monthly net salary of ₦180,000.

Additional Information

Work is scheduled Monday through Saturday with Sundays off. The job is based onsite at Orchid Road, Lekki, Lagos State.
