Position Summary

The Pump Quality and HSE Engineer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating quality assurance, inspection, health, safety, and environmental activities within the Pump Quality Repair Center (QRC). This role ensures compliance with all technical specifications, drawings, internal and external standards, and statutory regulations. The position requires a technical expert capable of performing hands-on inspections and driving HSE adherence within the pump OEM/QRC environment. Reporting directly to the Quality Manager, the engineer plays a critical role in upholding quality and safety excellence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct and support documented inspections verifying parts, repairs, and assemblies meet all applicable drawings, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Execute and manage Inspection Test Plans (ITP) and project quality plans aligned with customer and company standards.
  • Organize and control all project-related quality documentation for repairs, inspections, and final product release.
  • Perform dimensional, visual, painting, and welding inspections following established procedures and acceptance criteria.
  • Review and ensure supplier qualifications for welders and NDE personnel meet specified criteria.
  • Approve supplier manufacturing and testing documentation, facilitating customer and third-party inspections as needed.
  • Prepare testing and inspection criteria for projects, including ITPs and procurement specifications.
  • Document and resolve non-conformance reports (NCRs) efficiently through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Support internal quality audits and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain precise records of inspections, quality logs, and release documents.
  • Promote operational excellence and deliver high customer service standards.
  • Implement and support site HSE procedures and safe work practices within the Pump QRC.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE policies, permit-to-work requirements, and risk control measures.
  • Participate in hazard identification, risk assessments, toolbox talks, and other safety awareness events.
  • Monitor workplace safety, report unsafe conditions or behaviors, and assist in corrective actions.
  • Lead incident reporting, investigations, and follow up to prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure that contractors and staff comply with safety requirements, including PPE use and equipment safety.
  • Assist with environmental and safety regulatory compliance activities.
  • Foster a robust safety culture through communication, coaching, and regular field presence.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant technical field.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in pump OEM, repair, or rotating equipment sectors.
  • Strong familiarity with quality management systems, inspection techniques, welding processes, and NDE standards.
  • In-depth understanding of machining, assembly, and testing operations related to pumps and accessories.
  • Proficient with inspection tools used in machining and assembly environments.
  • Hands-on experience within repair or manufacturing contexts is essential.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of API 610 and API 682 standards.
  • Sound understanding of HSE principles, hazard identification, and industrial safety protocols.
  • Practical knowledge of permit-to-work systems, risk assessment, PPE, and safe equipment handling.
  • Mandatory certification as Internal/Lead Auditor ISO 9001:2015.
  • Preferred certifications include Internal/Lead Auditor ISO 14001 and 45001, AWS CWI or CSWIP 3.1 (welding inspection), and NACE Level II or SSPC Level II (painting inspection).
  • Safety-related certification or formal HSE training is required.
  • Demonstrated flexibility, eagerness to learn, accuracy, analytical skills, and a positive, proactive attitude.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities.
  • Commitment to operational excellence and superior customer service.
