Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage well-structured prompts, templates, and output formats aligned with product and stakeholder needs.
- Clarify expected deliverables including outputs, constraints, and completion standards; document assumptions, limitations, and edge cases.
- Utilize best practices for large language models (LLMs), such as context management, instruction layering, and few-shot examples, to enhance prompt accuracy and consistency.
- Perform iterative testing and debugging of prompts; analyze errors to minimize hallucinations and output variability.
- Create evaluation methodologies involving test data, scoring rubrics, and human review to continually assess quality.
- Apply PromptOps methodologies including version control, change management, documentation, and release procedures for prompts.
- Monitor deployed prompt performance focusing on quality, safety, latency, and cost, and refine prompts for efficiency.
- Collaborate with UX and product teams to design seamless AI-driven interactions, workflows, and safety measures.
- Work alongside engineering teams to embed prompts within applications, including those leveraging retrieval-augmented techniques.
- Ensure all prompts and AI experiences comply with governance, security, privacy, and safety requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Communication & Writing: Exceptional written communication, with capability to craft unambiguous instructions; experience in structured prompt creation and output format specification; translate business objectives into detailed prompt requirements and documentation.
- AI/LLM Knowledge: Solid understanding of GPT and similar LLMs behavior, including hallucinations, bias, and failure modes; familiarity with prompting methods such as zero-shot, few-shot, chain-of-thought, and tool/function invocation concepts.
- Analytical Skills: Skilled in methodical prompt testing, interpreting responses, diagnosing issues, and iterative refinement through A/B testing and quality improvements; designing evaluation criteria to quantify progress.
- PromptOps & Governance: Experience managing prompt versions, documentation, and change controls; knowledge of quality and safety monitoring in production; cost optimization strategies like token management and response length limits.
- UX & Product Mindset: Ability to devise intuitive AI user interactions aligned with workflows; collaborate effectively with product/UX teams; ensure AI responses set appropriate expectations and safety.
