Role Purpose

The Project Technical Manager will report to the Project Manager or Director and operate within the Engineering Business Line under Project Execution. The role involves overseeing all engineering and technical activities of the project to ensure compliance with contractual obligations and achievement of targets related to time, budget, and quality.

Core Responsibilities

• Oversee and coordinate multidisciplinary engineering work, ensuring that project goals, contract terms, and quality benchmarks are met.
• Establish and manage the project engineering structure, including staff allocation and liaison with discipline leads.
• Drive the application of technological and engineering solutions throughout the project lifecycle through to plant handover.
• Engage in project planning and scheduling activities, monitoring engineering outputs, and managing outsourcing tactics.
• Lead risk management efforts, conduct design reviews, and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration to optimize technical approaches.
• Take responsibility for critical engineering decisions, resolving cross-discipline conflicts and maintaining project alignment.
• Track and control engineering-related budgets, manpower hours, and materials expenses, initiating corrective measures as needed.
• Assist the Project Manager with client communications, contract administration, variation orders, and negotiation of technical aspects.

Educational and Experience Requirements

• A bachelor's or master's degree in Mechanical, Chemical, Civil Engineering, or related fields.
• Between 10 and 15 years of experience in engineering or project roles, with demonstrated leadership in EPC projects particularly within oil & gas, energy, or infrastructure industries.

Language Skills

• Fluency in English is mandatory.
• Knowledge of Italian, French, or Arabic is advantageous.

Technical Expertise

• Comprehensive understanding of engineering design stages spanning from conceptualization to commissioning.
• Proven capabilities in project engineering management, planning, and coordinating multiple disciplines.
• Skilled in risk assessment, budget management, and cost control for engineering functions.
• Familiarity with international engineering codes, standards, QA/QC procedures, and health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations.
• Experience managing stakeholder interfaces including clients, licensors, suppliers, and subcontractors.

IT Proficiencies

• Competency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Exposure to engineering and document management software.
• Experience with ERP systems such as SAP is considered a plus.
