Job description
About the Role
0G seeks an exceptionally proactive Project Manager to steer project execution across business, product, and engineering teams. This position demands someone adept at imposing order within a dynamic, fast-paced remote setup by transforming company goals into defined projects with clear owners, timelines, and measurable results. Monitoring ongoing progress to ensure successful delivery is essential.
You will collaborate across various functions, understand priorities deeply, provide clear contextual translation, identify potential impediments early, and actively guide teams toward solutions.
Operating within a distributed team necessitates strong remote communication skills. The role requires creating clarity without excessive meetings — documenting decisions thoroughly, communicating asynchronously, following up proactively, and ensuring all stakeholders are aware of their responsibilities and next steps.
This position transcends routine project tracking or meeting scheduling. It requires strong ownership, actively spotting gaps, enforcing commitments, challenging ambiguous priorities, and enhancing team execution efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead cross-functional initiatives from initial planning to final delivery involving business, product, engineering, and other teams.
- Convert company priorities into detailed project plans with milestones, designated owners, dependencies, and measurable targets.
- Establish streamlined operating procedures suited to a distributed team, including project updates, decision logs, action item tracking, and escalation routines.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and business units to clarify priorities, requirements, dependencies, and timelines.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of context, decisions, actions, assigned owners, and deadlines to minimize unnecessary meetings.
- Detect blockers, risks, and misalignments proactively and engage stakeholders to resolve issues before they affect delivery.
- Ensure diligent follow-up on commitments and clear accountability across teams.
- Assist in setting, tracking, and reviewing company- and team-level OKRs and KPIs.
- Develop dashboards, tracking systems, and reporting processes to provide leadership with transparent visibility into progress, risks, and performance.
- Facilitate focused cross-functional meetings when necessary and ensure discussions yield explicit decisions and actionable next steps.
- Drive improvements in internal processes, workflows, documentation, and communication as the organization grows.
- Identify inefficiencies or unclear ownership areas within teams, proposing improvements proactively.
- Communicate project status, trade-offs, risks, and decisions clearly to leadership and relevant stakeholders.
- Undertake pivotal operational and strategic projects as priorities evolve.
Required Qualifications
- 4 to 7 years of experience in project management, program management, business operations, strategy & operations, PMO, or similar cross-functional roles.
- Demonstrated ability to independently lead complex projects involving multiple teams and stakeholders.
- Strong proficiency in project management principles including planning, prioritization, dependency and risk management, and execution monitoring.
- Experience collaborating closely with product and/or engineering teams.
- Familiarity with OKRs, KPIs, performance measurement, and business review processes.
- Exceptional skills in stakeholder communication and management.
- Proven experience working in remote or distributed teams with the capacity to communicate effectively through asynchronous methods, minimizing synchronous meetings.
- Excellent written communication and documentation aptitude, capable of summarizing complex discussions into clear decisions, owner responsibilities, and follow-up steps.
- Comfortable coordinating across diverse functions and time zones with proactive follow-ups when communication delays occur.
- Highly proactive attitude with a strong sense of accountability and ability to seek clarity, raise issues, and hold stakeholders responsible.
- Robust problem-solving capabilities and ability to structure ambiguous challenges.
- Adaptability to fast-changing startup environments with evolving priorities.
- Capacity to operate independently without constant supervision or detailed instructions.
- Fluent English proficiency for effective communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders; Chinese language skills considered a plus.
Preferred Experience
- Background working in startups, scale-ups, AI, cloud infrastructure, developer tools, or technology companies.
- Experience designing project management and communication frameworks for distributed teams.
- Proven ability coordinating between Chinese-speaking engineering groups and English-speaking business units.
- Expertise in building project management or operational processes from inception.
- Familiarity with collaborative and project management tools such as Linear, Jira, Notion, Slack, or equivalents.
- Consulting or strategic experience is advantageous but not mandatory.
