- Maintain a clear and well-organized chart of accounts and ensure financial records and reconciliations are accurate and up to date.
- Oversee cash flow management, banking relationships, and treasury functions.
- Handle GST filings, corporate tax, and statutory reports with regulatory bodies like IRAS and ACRA, coordinating with external tax advisors as necessary.
- Manage the annual audit process and act as the main liaison for external auditors.
- Develop and enforce internal financial controls, policies, and approval workflows appropriate for a growing startup.
- Supervise payroll administration, CPF contributions, and employee expense management.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and cash runway planning while identifying financial risks early.
- Collaborate closely with founders and department heads on expenditure, unit economics, and vendor agreements.
- Utilize AI and automation tools to optimize the efficiency of closing processes, reporting, and reconciliations.
- Support fundraising activities, investor communications, and due diligence as the company scales.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum five years of accounting or finance experience, preferably in startups or fast-growing companies.
- Degree in Accountancy, Finance, or related discipline; professional qualifications such as CA (Singapore), ACCA, or CPA are strongly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of SFRS and IFRS accounting standards; familiarity with US GAAP is an advantage.
- Exposure to GST, corporate tax, and statutory compliance requirements in Singapore.
- Experience with external or internal audits, either through public accounting firms or in-house audit leadership roles.
- Demonstrated capability to create and implement internal controls and finance processes independently.
- Proficiency with accounting software programs like Xero, QuickBooks, or NetSuite, along with advanced skills in Excel or Google Sheets.
- Ability to handle ambiguity, prioritize tasks effectively, and balance strategic thinking with operational execution.
- Enthusiasm for adopting AI tools to enhance finance function efficiency.
- Exposure to or interest in Web3, cryptocurrency, or digital asset accounting is a plus but not mandatory.
- Strong attention to detail, ownership mentality, and clear, effective communication skills.
