About the Role

A reputable civil infrastructure contractor located in Takanini, Auckland is looking for an experienced Project Engineer or Project Manager to expand their team. This role offers significant hands-on involvement, requiring ownership of diverse infrastructure projects from initial client engagement and pricing through to delivery, handover, and ongoing client support. Projects will include stormwater, wastewater, and other civil infrastructure works, collaborating extensively with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and field teams.

Responsibilities

  • Lead management of civil infrastructure projects from estimation to final completion.
  • Develop accurate quotations, detailed estimates, and tender submissions.
  • Coordinate subcontractors, sourcing of materials, equipment, and labor.
  • Establish and maintain strong client relationships throughout projects.
  • Oversee budgeting, progress claims, and manage variations effectively.
  • Ensure comprehensive project documentation, quality control, and timely handovers.
  • Identify opportunities for new business and assist in company growth initiatives.
  • Maintain exemplary health, safety, environmental, and quality standards on all projects.

Requirements

  • Engineering qualification at Level 7 or an equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in civil construction, infrastructure, utilities, or related sectors within New Zealand.
  • Excellent communication skills capable of engaging confidently with clients, consultants, and site personnel.
  • Commercially astute with proven experience in estimating, pricing, procurement, or contract administration.
  • Practical mindset, proactive approach, and skilled at managing multiple projects concurrently.
