The Opportunity

We are seeking a Process Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering team based in Hamilton. This permanent position involves working day shifts from 7:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday. Reporting to the Process Engineering Lead, you will focus on optimizing our manufacturing processes to enhance efficiency, quality, safety, and performance. Your responsibilities will include analyzing current procedures, driving process improvements, and supporting both ongoing production and new product introductions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities to enhance manufacturing efficiency, quality, and reduce costs.
  • Create and implement strategies for process optimization and productivity improvements.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives applying Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and best-practice approaches.
  • Lead and participate in cross-functional problem-solving teams.
  • Work closely with Quality teams to ensure adherence to industry standards, regulations, and customer expectations.
  • Assist in maintaining, calibrating, and troubleshooting equipment to reduce downtime.
  • Provide expert technical support for equipment and process challenges.
  • Support new product introductions by ensuring manufacturability and scalability with cost-efficient processes.
  • Develop, maintain, and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), documentation, and training resources.
  • Train manufacturing staff on new processes, equipment handling, and safety procedures.

Candidate Profile

This role is ideal for an analytical and proactive engineer who thrives on continuous improvement and can independently drive decisions that boost manufacturing performance. Effective communication skills and collaborative mindset are essential.

Preferred Qualifications and Experience

  • NZQA qualification, Diploma, or equivalent experience in Electronics, Mechanical, Chemical, Industrial engineering, or similar disciplines.
  • Demonstrated experience as a Process Engineer within manufacturing settings—experience in regulated industries is desirable.
  • Solid understanding of manufacturing processes and equipment, including knowledge of Surface Mount Technology, Selective Soldering, and Conformal Coating.
  • Proficiency in Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical abilities and effective problem-solving skills.
  • Capability to manage several projects independently while maintaining quality and safety standards.
