Project Engineer

About the Role

Join Verbrec as a full-time, permanent Project Engineer based in New Plymouth, Taranaki, New Zealand. Work within a supportive and flexible environment located close to the beach, featuring convenient onsite parking.

The company is expanding its footprint within the energy and water sectors, supporting sustainable and innovative engineering projects in wastewater treatment, water management, and critical infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

• Compile and deliver fortnightly reports to key stakeholders detailing project progress.
• Support management of variation, technical queries, requests for information, action registers, and maintain the project risk matrix.
• Monitor, control, and report on project timelines, milestones, and key performance indicators across multiple projects.
• Identify potential project risks and develop strategies to mitigate their impact.
• Facilitate communication and coordination between engineering team members, subcontractors, and stakeholders to ensure effective project delivery.
• Utilize scheduling and document control tools to track and document project performance.
• Identify and recommend value engineering opportunities to optimize project outcomes.
• Assist in handling project control tasks including variation management by assessing impacts on cost, safety, quality, and schedule.

Candidate Profile

• Holds an engineering degree in mechanical, process, piping, or related disciplines with 5 to 10 years of relevant experience.
• Demonstrates ability to operate across multi-disciplinary teams towards achieving project objectives.
• Experienced in project planning, scheduling, monitoring, and tender document preparation and management.
• Capable of engaging and supervising diverse teams effectively.
• Possesses advanced communication and interpersonal skills essential for stakeholder liaison.
