Project Delivery Technician

Role Overview

This position is tasked with leading the technical execution of the Bureau's annual sustainment and upgrade program for observing networks. Situated within the Infrastructure Delivery team, the focus is on delivering sustainment projects for vital observation assets nationwide. These include automatic weather stations, flood monitoring sensors, upper air apparatus, communications equipment, space and marine observation systems, and other specialised instruments across various network streams.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The role involves applying advanced hands-on and technical abilities in instrumentation, setup, installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of monitoring and observing equipment. It contributes to project planning, risk management, workshop preparations, and field deployments supporting network upgrades and sustainment activities across Australia.

Projects vary in scale and complexity across multiple stations and systems, necessitating anticipation of operational challenges, formulating effective solutions, and coordinating efficiently with stakeholders.

Regular onsite work at a national technical workshop is expected. Tasks include equipment procurement, dispatch, assembly, system testing, field installation, and commissioning across various Australian locations and territories.

Team and Reporting

Operating within the wider Observing Systems and Operations program, reporting lines lead to a Project Manager – Observing Networks. Collaboration is essential with technical experts, contractors, and operational teams to guarantee safe, timely, and efficient project execution for network sustainment.
