Production / Manufacturing Head

About the Role

Denplex Engineering Company seeks a seasoned Production Manager to take charge of the Vatva plant located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. This full-time, permanent position requires a leadership role over a technical team composed of CNC programmers, design engineers, and machine operators. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise to independently appraise the team's output, validate estimates, and promptly resolve shop floor issues without relying on any individual.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and lead CNC programmers, designers, and machine operators.
• Review CNC programs and machining strategies to ensure correctness in tool paths, selection, and operational parameters.
• Evaluate cycle time and setup estimates against benchmarks critically.
• Authenticate reported machining complications, distinguishing between actual technical constraints and avoidable mistakes.
• Challenge and approve technical decisions while resolving conflicts across programming, design, quality, and production departments.
• Identify training needs and organize skill development sessions.
• Manage customer enquiries and prepare precise quotations factoring in materials, machining hours, tooling, setups, outsourcing, and overheads.
• Ensure quotations are issued timely, maintain records, follow up to convert enquiries into orders, and analyze cost variances post job completion.
• Oversee daily plant operations, production scheduling, job allocation on various CNC machines, and monitor work-in-progress and machine utilization.
• Ensure availability of materials and consumables; control rejects, scrap, and reworks; drive root-cause analysis on recurring issues.
• Handle manpower planning including shift schedules, attendance monitoring, and productivity improvement.
• Enforce housekeeping, 5S principles, and workplace safety.
• Interpret customer drawings and GD&T requirements; review jig and fixture designs for effectiveness and efficiency.
• Diagnose and resolve manufacturing problems related to design, tooling, material, or processes and promote value engineering.
• Maintain drawing control and manage revision approvals.
• Ensure ERP data entry accuracy across job cards, production booking, inventory, and dispatch modules.
• Use ERP reports to monitor production progress, costing, inventory, and job profitability, instituting ERP compliance.
• Manage ISO 9001:2015 documentation and audits, address non-conformances, and keep quality records updated.
• Coordinate outsourced operations and vendor relations; communicate with customers for technical clarifications and delivery commitments.
• Regularly report plant performance, order status, and cost management to senior management.

Candidate Requirements

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Production, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• 7 to 12 years of relevant experience with at least 5 to 7 years in precision machining or engineering manufacturing.
• Minimum 3 years experience in managing production teams with independent decision-making capabilities.
• In-depth technical background to critically evaluate machining operations and distinguish true constraints from errors.
• Experience in cost estimation, quotation preparation, and ERP system usage.
• Proficiency with ISO 9001:2015 standards and audit processes.
