Production Engineer

About the Role

We seek a Production Engineer with a solid foundation in Mechanical Engineering to oversee the manufacturing processes of SMC/GRP water tank production. The candidate will ensure efficient production workflows, optimal manpower usage, quality maintenance, and timely attainment of production goals. This role involves active engagement on the factory floor to supervise operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Organize and oversee daily production tasks aligned with output targets and delivery schedules.
• Manage the manufacturing stages of SMC/GRP water tanks covering moulding, panel fabrication, assembly, and related activities.
• Ensure adherence to approved technical drawings, specifications, bill of materials (BOMs), and quality norms throughout production.
• Collaborate with Design, Purchasing, Quality Control, Inventory, and Dispatch departments for seamless production flow.
• Prepare daily production log reports and monitor production status.
• Assign manpower based on production needs and supervise workforce efficiency.
• Optimize use of raw inputs, tools, machinery, moulds, and ancillary resources.
• Track material usage and implement waste reduction measures.
• Detect and resolve production-related challenges by coordinating with relevant teams.
• Verify proper assembly of tank parts including panels, flanges, nozzles, supports, ladders, etc.
• Ensure safety compliance on the shop floor, including housekeeping and correct use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Oversee maintenance of equipment and report service requirements.
• Assist in capacity planning for manpower, materials, and machines.
• Contribute to continuous improvement efforts targeting productivity and quality enhancements.
• Maintain comprehensive production documentation and checklists.
• Coordinate with Dispatch to guarantee readiness of finished products for shipment as scheduled.

Technical Requirements

• Strong fundamentals of Mechanical Engineering.
• Basic knowledge of SMC, GRP, and FRP manufacturing techniques.
• Competency in interpreting mechanical drawings and measurements.
• Familiarity with production planning and shop-floor supervision.
• Understanding of BOMs, material consumption metrics, and manufacturing workflows.
• Proficient in MS Excel and production reporting tools.
• Problem-solving skills to address production challenges.
• Awareness of industrial safety norms and PPE protocols.
• Effective communication, collaboration, and leadership abilities.

Preferred Industry Background

• Experience in SMC, GRP, or FRP manufacturing environments.
• Background in water tank or composite product manufacturing.
• Familiarity with sheet moulding or compression moulding processes.
• Mechanical fabrication or assembly experience within industrial production.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is a hands-on production engineer who thrives in manufacturing settings, oversees shop-floor activities, manages labor efficiently, coordinates cross-functional teams, and prioritizes quality and safety to meet production objectives.

• Experience Required: Between 1 to 2.5 years
• Salary Range: ₹25,000 to ₹35,000 monthly, commensurate with experience and interview outcome
