Role Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive QC inspections on incoming, in-process, and outgoing devices, components, and accessories according to SOPs and AQL criteria, including visual, dimensional, functional, and safety assessments, with all defects logged in the quality system.
• Execute standardized testing procedures, calibration, and final functional tests on sample electric bikes, utilizing approved fixtures and software, recording detailed traceability data such as unit IDs, batch details, firmware versions, and operator identification.
• Manage the refurbishment process from initial intake assessment through repairs, testing, and re-release, categorizing faults, ensuring proper components and alignment with bill of materials, and confirming restored units meet original standards before shipment.
• Compile weekly defect trend and failure analysis reports for OEM partners, aiding in corrective and preventive action implementations and validating solutions through targeted retesting.
• Maintain current SOPs, work instructions, checklists, and test records using Zoho; uphold environmental health and safety protocols, including electrostatic discharge precautions and battery safety.
• Contribute to device history documentation and audit preparations; participate in root cause investigations employing methodologies like 5-Why and Ishikawa diagrams.
• Calibrate and safeguard test equipment as per schedule; monitor critical spare parts and refurbishment inventory with accurate stock tracking; assist in pilot production runs, sample evaluations, and initial quality inspections.

Candidate Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or equivalent technical experience.
• Minimum two years’ experience in product testing, electronic quality control, or repair and refurbishment of devices.
• Practical expertise with multimeters, oscilloscopes, battery testers, and testing fixtures.
• Ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, firmware versions, and logs accurately.
• Experience in documenting test outcomes and familiarity with quality or ticketing systems; knowledge of Freshdesk, Zoho CRM, and SafetyCulture report templates is a plus.
• Strong analytical skills combined with a safety-oriented approach, capable of maintaining takt time in a fast-paced production setting.
• Desirable: prior experience with electric mobility devices, consumer electronics, or battery-powered products.

Additional Information

This is a full-time, onsite position based in Nairobi, Kenya, reporting directly to the Hardware Product Manager for Mobility.
