Procurement Specialist

Overview

This role entails comprehensive procurement responsibilities within a designated portfolio covering materials, equipment, or services. The incumbent will manage the entire procurement lifecycle from purchase requisition to purchase order, ensuring meticulous documentation and timely ERP entries. The specialist will conduct RFQ processes, facilitate evaluations, and support leadership with award recommendations while maintaining audit-ready records in Oracle ERP.

Portfolio and Category Management

The candidate will develop and implement procurement strategies for assigned business units or categories. This involves monitoring market trends, price changes, and material availability to negotiate complex contracts while mitigating risks and ensuring compliance. Collaboration between operational procurement and strategic contract teams will be vital to maximize contract spend and improve commercial outcomes.

Stakeholder and Supplier Management

The specialist will act as the main procurement liaison for relevant categories or operation areas. They will coordinate cross-functionally with legal, finance, supply chain, and contract management to align priorities and facilitate smooth procurement processes. Supplier engagement includes gathering quotations, managing onboarding, addressing delivery or documentation issues, and negotiating favorable terms.

Continuous Improvement

The role demands proactive identification of opportunities to enhance procurement efficiency, including demand consolidation, transaction reduction, and increasing contract utilization. The individual will support initiatives for process optimization, participate in training, and remain aware of global procurement trends and best practices.

Compliance, Governance, and Reporting

All procurement activities must comply with corporate policies, health & safety standards, legal regulations, and ethical guidelines. The specialist will uphold transparency and fairness, maintain thorough audit documentation, and utilize Oracle to monitor contract values and procurement KPIs such as cycle time, savings, and supplier performance.

Peer Support and Development

The specialist will mentor and support colleagues by sharing expertise in sourcing techniques, ERP utilization, and documentation standards. They will assist in onboarding new personnel and contribute to team knowledge sharing and a collaborative, professional work atmosphere.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline.
• Professional certification from the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply (CIPS) or progress towards certification is advantageous.
• Strong technical skills in procurement and sourcing, bidding, tendering, data analytics, market research, supplier relationship management, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement.
• Behavioral qualities include initiative, resilience, excellent communication, adaptability, stakeholder focus, attention to detail, and a propensity for simplification.
• Leadership abilities such as service orientation, decisive judgment, mentoring, teamwork, and collaborative skills.
• Knowledge of Procure-to-Pay processes and proficiency in Oracle ERP Procurement and Contracts modules alongside Microsoft Office suite.
