AbbVie Westport is the largest operational site within the global AbbVie network, recognised as a centre of excellence in aseptic fill-finish manufacturing. The dynamic environment supports a robust pipeline of new product introductions and technology transfers involving both small and large molecule programmes. The Eyecare Technical Centre, which this role supports, oversees the Eyecare Unit Dose, Multi Dose, and Implants business units, focused on delivering innovative ophthalmic products worldwide.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership aligned with AbbVie's global mission at the Westport site.
• Lead and coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve technology transfer goals and product launch preparedness.
• Act as the principal technical expert for manufacturing troubleshooting, conducting thorough data-driven root cause analyses and resolving issues.
• Manage complex Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) within the Eyecare portfolio.
• Plan and implement process and technology advancements, including cost improvement initiatives.
• Oversee portfolio changes such as raw material updates, batch size adjustments, the introduction of new technologies, and vendor modifications.
• Represent the site in customer and regulatory meetings and audits, ensuring compliance with GMP and internal policies and procedures.
• Contribute to digital transformation efforts within Eyecare and Implants operations and participate in the Track and Trend program.
• Support commissioning and qualification of process equipment in close partnership with Global and Site Engineering teams.
• Drive enhancements in process safety across Eyecare and Implants manufacturing.
• Mentor and develop team members to foster high performance and interdisciplinary training.
• Assist in budgeting, strategic planning, and achieving cost improvement targets.

Candidate Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree or higher in scientific or engineering disciplines; advanced degrees (MSc or PhD) in Engineering, Science, or Technology are advantageous.
• Relevant pharmaceutical industry experience: 8+ years for BSc holders, 7+ years for MSc, and 5+ years for PhD holders.
• Proven experience managing product transfer, launch cycles, and regulatory interactions.
• Strong background in pharmaceutical manufacturing processes with demonstrated problem-solving capability.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills facilitating collaboration across commercial, operations, global, and R&D teams.
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, evolving environment adapting to changing priorities.
