Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking skilled Process Development Engineers to join our manufacturing team based in Waterford, Ireland. This full-time role operates on a 24/7 continental shift schedule (2 days, 2 nights, 4 days off). This opportunity is well-suited for professionals with a strong foundation in pharmaceutical manufacturing, process development, or engineering support. The role involves leading key improvement initiatives and advancing operational excellence within a regulated environment.

Core Responsibilities

  • Lead initiatives for process optimization and continuous improvements within manufacturing operations.
  • Offer technical guidance and support to operational teams.
  • Conduct root cause analyses and coordinate problem-solving and CAPA implementations.
  • Spot and execute enhancements to increase efficiency, product quality, and reduce cycle times.
  • Support capital projects, process development programs, and manufacturing trials.
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert on manufacturing processes, critical process parameters, and product quality attributes.
  • Assist with new product introductions, clinical supply projects, technology transfers, and product enhancements.
  • Develop and track crucial performance indicators.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to advance manufacturing and development activities.
  • Ensure strict compliance with GMP regulations across all activities.

Candidate Profile

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in pharmaceutical manufacturing, process development, process engineering, or technical operations.
  • Proficient in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and methodical problem-solving.
  • Proven ability to lead improvement projects within regulated manufacturing environments.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Pharmaceutics, Pharmacy, or related scientific discipline.
  • Experience in aseptic manufacturing and lyophilisation processes.
  • Familiarity with experimental design methods such as Design of Experiments (DoE), statistical analysis, and pharmaceutical product development.
  • Background in project management and effective stakeholder communication.
