Job description
About the Role
Easygo is seeking a Privacy Officer to lead and develop its global privacy program across multiple markets. This role offers true ownership of privacy management within an innovative, fast-paced environment. Reporting directly to the General Counsel, you will craft and enhance Easygo's privacy framework, ensuring compliance while enabling rapid innovation across product, engineering, data, and marketing teams.
You will be the primary contact for privacy matters, translating complex regulatory requirements into actionable business practices that maintain agility and compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and advance Easygo's global privacy framework, including policies, standards, procedures, controls, and an evolving privacy roadmap across all brands and jurisdictions.
- Keep abreast of changes in global privacy regulations and convert these into prioritized and practical business requirements.
- Conduct privacy impact assessments and embed privacy-by-design principles into product development lifecycle for new products, features, vendor relationships, AI projects, and data usage.
- Evaluate privacy risks associated with vendors, processors, affiliates, and commercial partners; manage data processing agreements, standard contractual clauses, and mechanisms for cross-border data transfer.
- Deliver timely, practical, and commercially-focused privacy advice to various internal teams including product, engineering, security, data, marketing, and customer operations; also lead privacy training and awareness initiatives throughout the organization.
- Report on privacy risks, metrics, incident management, and remediation progress to legal leadership and relevant governance forums; support audits, certifications, and responses to regulatory inquiries.
Candidate Profile
- Possess a tertiary qualification in law, information governance, risk, compliance, or a related field.
- Have over five years of hands-on experience in a dedicated privacy or data protection role within in-house or professional services environments, managing privacy programs in multi-jurisdictional organizations handling significant personal data volumes.
- Possess comprehensive knowledge of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth), Australian Privacy Principles, Notifiable Data Breaches scheme, and EU/UK GDPR.
- Understand modern technology environments, including cloud infrastructure, data analytics, and artificial intelligence, and their associated privacy challenges.
- Exhibit strong written and oral communication skills, capable of explaining complex legal/privacy matters to technical and commercial teams and influencing decisions without direct authority.
- Demonstrate effective multitasking, prioritization, and organizational skills in fast-moving settings, with the ability to work independently.
Desirable Qualifications
- Certification such as CIPP/E, CIPP/US, CIPM, or FIP is advantageous.
- Legal qualification or admission to practice is welcome but not mandatory.
- Familiarity with North American privacy laws, including various state comprehensive privacy regulations.
- Knowledge of online gambling regulations and the intersection of privacy with AML/CTF, KYC, responsible gambling data requirements, or livestreaming contexts.
Benefits and Perks
- Learning and career growth: Opportunity to gain practical experience and advance roles swiftly, with one-third of employees leveling up annually.
- Competitive salary paired with performance-based bonuses up to 20% based on individual impact.
- Referral bonuses for bringing in exceptional talent.
- Generous parental leave: 18 weeks paid for primary carers.
- Supportive parental return program including 12 weeks transition assistance and fully paid Fridays off during the initial three months.
- Access to Employee Assistance Programs and wellness initiatives such as weekly massages.
- Onsite amenities: Free coffee, fresh juices, smoothies, daily catered breakfasts, snack walls, drink fridges, and a vibrant, fun office environment with gaming and leisure facilities.
