Role Overview

The INS ATE Development Sustaining team located in Limerick is searching for a seasoned Test Engineer to focus on high-speed and precision signal chain products aimed at Automated Test Equipment applications. The role involves creating high-performance test systems for first silicon verification, characterization, qualification, and manufacturing of Precision Mixed Signal devices. The successful candidate will be proactive, quick to learn, and possess solid technical, analytical, and interpersonal skills, working closely with an experienced multidisciplinary team.

Key Responsibilities

• Engineer high-performance test strategies and solutions for analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits.
• Design, build, and troubleshoot multi-site, cost-efficient hardware and software test systems for product characterization, qualification, and production—covering wafer probe and final testing phases.
• Collaborate with design engineers to establish test methodologies, plans, modes, including SCAN and IDDq tests.
• Create test schematics and partner with PCB layout engineers to develop multi-site test hardware boards.
• Troubleshoot test programs and correlate manufacturing test results with engineering bench data; ensure smooth transition of production test solutions to offshore, high-volume manufacturing sites.
• Support and engage with both local and offshore manufacturing to sustain product yield and quality, resolving post-release product and test-related issues.
• Participate in new product development initiatives and evaluate emerging test system technologies for future projects.
• Oversee project timelines to ensure alignment with product launch and release schedules.
• Exhibit motivation, resourcefulness, and a team-oriented attitude with a commitment to fulfilling project objectives.

Qualifications and Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical field; Master's degree is advantageous.
• Over five years' experience analyzing and debugging both analog and digital circuits.
• Strong proficiency in analog/digital devices and programming languages such as C, C++, and Visual Basic.
• Experience designing multi-site automated test equipment hardware and software that reduces cost and improves testing efficiency.
• Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout tools such as Orcad and Cadence ALLEGRO.
• Competence in Microsoft Office applications and statistical data analysis techniques, primarily using Excel.
• Experience in documenting and presenting detailed test plans and evaluation reports.
• Familiar with Cadence design tools and Unix operating systems; hands-on experience with benchtop instrumentation preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

This position involves approximately 10% travel and operates on a typical first-shift daytime schedule. Candidates requiring access to technical data might undergo export licensing reviews in compliance with U.S. governmental regulations.
