Job description
About the Role
Laserfiche is seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead transformation efforts for legacy Microsoft-based systems by modernizing and migrating them to scalable, resilient AWS-native cloud infrastructure. This senior technical role involves designing and implementing next-gen platforms, incorporating cloud engineering expertise, distributed systems knowledge, and contemporary software development standards.
The position also champions the application of artificial intelligence, particularly large language models (LLMs), to enhance development workflows and enrich product features. This includes accelerating software delivery and elevating developer productivity by embedding AI-driven solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead migration efforts of .NET and Windows-based legacy systems to Linux and AWS platforms.
- Re-architect legacy monolithic applications into modular, cloud-native microservices for improved scalability.
- Design and maintain production AWS systems, utilizing services such as EKS, Lambda, API Gateway, S3, and RDS/Aurora.
- Develop and manage infrastructure as code using Terraform or CloudFormation.
- Oversee continuous integration and delivery pipelines using TFS and Azure DevOps.
- Integrate AI tools to write, refactor code, generate tests, and automate API design and documentation.
- Create internal tools leveraging LLMs to boost developer efficiency, including faster debugging, migration, and system design.
- Implement AI-powered product features such as document ingestion with semantic search (RAG), workflow automation, and agentic systems that autonomously interact across services.
- Combine structured and unstructured data, AI reasoning, and deterministic workflows in system designs.
- Enhance document and content management workflows with AI-driven classification, summarization, and decision support capabilities.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 10 years in software engineering roles.
- Proven experience migrating Windows environments to Linux.
- Expert in decomposing monolithic applications into scalable cloud architecture.
- Strong proficiency with C#/.NET technologies, including modernization to .NET Core and .NET 6+.
- Extensive experience designing backend systems and APIs.
- Deep hands-on expertise with AWS cloud services and operating production-grade systems.
- Solid understanding of observability, scalability, and system resilience principles.
- Active user of AI tools within software development processes.
- Demonstrated creation of AI-powered features or systems.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, vector search, prompt engineering, and multi-step AI pipelines.
- Experience designing agentic workflows or intelligent multi-stage AI processes.
- Ability to assess and make strategic decisions on migration approaches and build versus buy dilemmas.
- Comfortable navigating both legacy IT systems and cutting-edge cloud platforms along with emerging AI technologies.
