Role Overview

As a Principal Kubernetes Control Plane Engineer, you will design and develop scalable control plane architectures using tools like Cluster API to enable wide-scale automation. You will create custom Kubernetes Operators and CRDs to facilitate lifecycle management and orchestration, optimize distributed state management through etcd enhancements, and implement secure multi-tenant isolation at the API server layer. Your expertise will support zero-downtime upgrades and cluster federation to ensure smooth user experiences for AI workloads. Collaboration with AI Scheduling and Fabric engineering teams will be essential to integrate control plane functions with GPU orchestration layers. You will also lead design reviews, mentor engineers, maintain high standards in distributed systems architecture, and drive platform reliability by proactively identifying and resolving failure modes before affecting customers.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Over 8 years of hands-on software engineering experience with deep proficiency in Go programming.
• Substantial involvement in Kubernetes ecosystem development, including Operators, API Server, etcd, and Cluster API extensions.
• Strong background in production operating, debugging, and scaling of large distributed systems.
• Comprehensive understanding of multi-tenancy, cluster federation, and API governance in cloud-native environments.
• Experience with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform and CI/CD pipelines, as well as managed cloud platforms.
• Proven leadership capabilities to drive architectural decisions and align cross-functional project teams.
• Excellent communication skills to simplify complex system requirements into actionable engineering plans.
• Experience thriving in fast-paced, rapidly growing engineering sectors is highly desirable.
