Job description
Role Overview
We are seeking a Principal Software Engineer to lead a development squad within Fidelity Ireland's Asset Management Technology group. This hands-on role involves creating and maintaining a suite of Micro-Services and User Interfaces that serve Fidelity’s Asset Management Solutions division, providing retirement and college saving solutions.
Required Expertise and Experience
- Possess a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field.
- Have at least 10 years of experience in design and software development.
- Proficient in Java, SpringBoot framework, RESTful service creation, and Angular or equivalent UI frameworks.
- Familiar with DevOps tools including Maven and Jenkins for continuous integration and delivery.
- Knowledge of testing frameworks like Karate, Playwright, Storybook is advantageous.
- Experience in Oracle SQL and PLSQL database technologies.
- Exposure to cloud environments such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) or container orchestration platforms like Kubernetes is a plus.
- Understanding of messaging systems like Kafka is beneficial but not compulsory.
- Prior familiarity with investment management or financial domain is advantageous though not mandatory.

- Efficient in managing priorities across multiple projects concurrently.
- Capable of performing detailed root cause analysis and making informed decisions under pressure.
- Champions best practices including unit testing, automation, DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, system design, and thorough code reviews across the team.
- Collaborates effectively with diverse groups both face-to-face and remotely, building strong professional relationships.
