Job Overview

We seek a skilled RFIC Design Engineer specializing in RF CMOS design to join our Wireless IP Design Group. This role involves designing critical RF blocks for wireless communication technologies such as Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and UWB. You will collaborate closely with a global, cross-functional team, contributing to a highly cooperative work environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Create designs for RFIC modules including synthesizers, VCOs, LO generation, transmitter and receiver chains (such as LNA, mixer, power amplifiers), baseband circuits, and bias circuitry.
• Lead schematic design and simulation processes to achieve targeted performance, area efficiency, and power consumption goals.
• Oversee and review layout activities, working intimately with layout engineers on aspects such as floor planning, device matching, routing, shielding, and ESD protection.
• Collaborate with system design teams to convert radio and product-level requirements into precise block budgets and circuit specifications.
• Manage validation and troubleshooting, including laboratory testing, detailed measurements, correlating results with simulations, and investigating silicon anomalies.
• Work with foundry technology teams to properly apply Process Design Kits and models while leveraging transistor and passive device characteristics and reliability standards.

Candidate Profile

• Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related discipline with at least 5 years of hands-on RF/Analog CMOS IC design experience, or M.S. with over 7.5 years in the field.
• Proficient in designing RF transmitter/receiver chains and PLL/Synthesizer circuits.
• Thorough expertise in RF-Analog IC design backed by extensive product tape-out experience.
• Detailed knowledge of CMOS transistor and inductor physics including noise factors, linearity, device imperfections, parasitic elements, and on-chip matching networks.
• Strong understanding of IC layout and packaging effects on circuit function, such as parasitic influences, cross-talk, power supply noise coupling, and isolation methods.
• Experienced in IC testing and debugging with hands-on use of RF laboratory instruments like spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
• Familiarity with leading-edge design tools including Cadence Virtuoso, Spectre/SpectreRF, and PeakView or comparable electromagnetic simulation tools.

Travel Expectations

Position requires minimal travel ranging from 0% to 25%.
