Position Overview

We are currently inviting applications for a Principal Electrical Engineer position, based in Wellington, Christchurch, or Auckland. This role involves applying your specialized technical design skills to important projects impacting the energy sector across the Australia-New Zealand region. You will collaborate with major clients in electrical distribution and transmission and support projects both nationally and internally.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform detailed design tasks related to electrical networks, focusing on transmission or distribution systems.
• Conduct thorough engineering calculations, studies, and technical evaluations to underpin substation development, asset upgrades, and connecting distributed generation.
• Create and maintain AutoCAD and Revit models representing substation layouts, equipment positioning, and building services.
• Scope projects, prepare estimates, and assist with project management and delivery processes.
• Work effectively both independently and within teams on designated tasks.
• Collaborate closely with a large Australian team of transmission and distribution engineers to ensure high-quality outcomes and comprehensive project delivery.
• Contribute to expanding the New Zealand Energy division by supporting strategy, business growth, and staffing alongside the Director of Energy.

Candidate Profile

• You are an established professional in New Zealand's energy sector, eager to advance your career within a dynamic and expanding organization.
• Hold tertiary qualifications in Electrical Engineering accredited by the Washington Accord.
• Possess Chartered Engineer status such as CPEng, RPEQ, or equivalent.
• Have more than 15 years of relevant professional experience.
• Demonstrate expertise in substations, transmission lines, or distribution systems.
• Have proven experience delivering overhead or underground distribution network designs.
• Maintain a well-established network of industry contacts and clients.
• Exhibit proficiency in design software including AutoCAD, Revit, NEARA, PLS CADD, or comparable applications.
• Display strong communication skills capable of engaging diverse stakeholders internally and externally.
• Be willing and able to undertake travel when required.
