Role Summary
We are seeking a Principal Consultant specializing in data and analytics who will lead technical delivery and actively contribute to shaping client solutions that drive business results, including participation in pre-sales activities. The role involves designing, implementing, and owning the delivery of comprehensive data platform solutions, with a strong client focus and collaboration across teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with sales and account teams to develop proposals and design solutions during pre-sales stages.
- Present solutions to clients, highlighting value propositions and unique differentiators.
- Identify and pursue opportunities to grow service offerings within existing client accounts.
- Organize and lead workshops with stakeholders to collect and clarify business requirements.
- Oversee technical architecture, design, and execution of modern data platform implementations.
- Provide expert guidance on data analytics, integration strategies, and the application of AI within data platforms.
- Conduct performance tuning and feature audits on data solutions.
- Create detailed documentation, deliver user training, and transfer knowledge both to clients and internal personnel.
- Mentor developers by serving as a subject matter expert on data platform architectures, data warehousing, and modeling.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven effectiveness engaging with senior stakeholders to influence decision-making.
- Experience in pre-sales solution development, proposal writing, and client presentations.
- Commercial insight to align technical solutions with business objectives.
- Strong client consultation and relationship management capabilities.
- Advanced proficiency building data solutions on cloud platforms including Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud.
- Expertise in platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Snowflake, and Databricks.
- Deep experience designing and implementing ETL/ELT workflows using tools including Synapse Analytics, Fabric Data Factory, Snowflake, Coalesce, Fivetran, Matillion, dbt, and AWS Glue.
- Strong data modeling skills encompassing conceptual, logical, and physical models using ER, dimensional, object-oriented, NoSQL, and Data Vault methodologies.
- Advanced programming skills in Python within modern data platform contexts.
- Experience working with Informatica Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC) or on-premises Informatica solutions.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field.
- At least 8 years of experience designing and implementing enterprise data warehouses.
- Minimum 8 years of expertise in ETL architecture and design.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in data modeling.
- Over 5 years in developing semantic layer components.
- At least 3 years experience with Power BI architecture design.
- At least 3 years experience in pre-sales technical solutioning and commercial proposal development.
Additional Information
- Position located in the Wellington office preferred, but open to other Datacom offices with a hybrid work setup requiring three days per week onsite.
- Full-time, permanent employment.
- Only New Zealand citizens and residents are eligible; security clearances for New Zealand are an advantage.
