Job description
About Nuix and Role Context
Nuix is committed to being a Force For Good through its people, products, and purpose. The company thrives in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, encouraging creative thinking and a dedication to making a positive societal impact. The culture is selective, seeking individuals passionate about contributing and who embody integrity and collaboration.
Position Summary
The Principal AI Enablement Builder is a hands-on engineer who works closely within business units to identify, design, and implement AI solutions with direct operational impact. This role is focused on delivering working AI software in production environments rather than advisory or consulting outputs. The candidate will translate vague business challenges into structured AI solutions, taking ownership from scoping through to deployment and maintenance.
Work Arrangement
This position is based in Sydney, Australia, requiring a minimum of three days onsite per week, with the flexibility to work remotely for up to two days.
Key Responsibilities
- Integrate with assigned business functions in rotations of three to six months to identify valuable AI opportunities and develop them into deployable solutions.
- Map existing workflows, conduct thorough discovery with stakeholders, and scope AI use cases aligned with each function’s goals.
- Design, implement, and deploy end-to-end AI pipelines including large language model (LLM) powered document processing, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) systems, multi-step agentic workflows, reusable integration components, and API connectors with Nuix’s core systems.
- Manage the full AI solution lifecycle from initial concept to monitoring and iterative improvements based on observed performance.
- Maintain disciplined proof-of-concept evaluations with clear exit criteria to validate feasibility before committing to full builds.
- Document and share reusable AI components, prompt templates, integration patterns, and lessons learned to facilitate knowledge transfer across teams.
- Collaborate credibly with business leaders, AI advocates, and data curators, effectively translating business needs into technical plans and communicating outcomes clearly.
- Participate in company-wide AI events and present results to executive leadership teams.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proven track record of delivering production AI systems in enterprise settings, primarily using Python.
- Experience advancing AI solutions from initial scoping through to production deployment, including RAG pipelines, agentic workflows or LLM integrations applied to real business data.
- Strong technical proficiency with core AI technologies: LLMs, prompt engineering, RAG methods, agent orchestration, modular tool integrations, evaluation frameworks, and deployment strategies across cloud, frontier, and open-source models.
- Ability to effectively diagnose ambiguous business problems and convert them into precise engineering specifications.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in software engineering or applied AI roles, including at least two years collaborating directly with non-technical business stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with eDiscovery, investigative analytics, legal technology, or regulated-data industries, including data sensitivity, chain-of-custody, and compliance requirements.
- Experience in embedded or rotation-based engineering models such as centers of excellence, tiger teams, or forward deployed engineering groups, with demonstrated ability managing stakeholder interactions and knowledge transfer.
