Role Summary
The Press Operator position is within the Labels division, involving the operation and setup of 3 to 8 colour rotary flexographic presses (brands include OMET, MarkAndy, Aquaflex, or Nilpeter) with ultraviolet (UV) and digital imaging technology. The incumbent is responsible for producing high-quality label products by maximizing operational efficiency and minimizing material waste. The position requires onsite presence in Brampton, Ontario, with a rotational two-week schedule that includes day, afternoon, and night shifts covering Monday to Friday.
Key Duties
- Analyze production orders to determine job requirements and configure press setups accordingly.
- Mount flexographic plates on cylinders, fit dies if required, and install print cylinders into press modules.
- Choose proper anilox roller volume, prepare ink trays or pumps, and continuously monitor ink viscosity during operations.
- Adjust impression alignment between plates, anilox rollers, and print cylinders.
- Fine-tune die strikes and impressions across up to four die-cutting stations.
- Maintain precise roll tension to ensure accurate print-to-die registration throughout runs.
- Operate presses at optimal speeds tailored to job complexity and quality requirements for various output formats including roll-to-roll, roll-to-fanfold, and roll-to-sheeter.
- Identify and resolve issues related to print quality, ink application, and registration to maintain standards and efficiency.
- Perform additional related tasks as needed.
Qualifications and Skills
- Completion of Secondary School diploma (Grade 12) or equivalent.
- Practical experience operating flexographic printing presses, specifically with OMET, Mark Andy, or Nilpeter equipment, is required.
- In-depth understanding of flexographic printing products and press functions.
- Experience with shrink sleeves printing is considered an advantage.
- Strong English communication skills, both oral and written.
- Basic math skills for operational tasks.
- Physical capability to handle loads up to 60 pounds.

Working Schedule
This role involves working onsite in Brampton, Ontario with shifts rotating biweekly among:
- Day Shift: 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
- Afternoon Shift: 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
- Night Shift: 11:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
Shifts cover Monday through Friday.
