Job description
Role Overview
The Pre-Sales Solution Architect is a senior expert instrumental in shaping the entire solution strategy during early phases of customer engagement, often preceding formal requests for proposals. This role bridges sales strategy with technical solution design to create integrated technology solutions tailored to client business goals, partnering closely with sales teams and client leaders from opportunity inception through contractual agreement and eventual handoff to delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive, end-to-end technical solutions and articulate their value across multiple service lines, ensuring feasibility, competitiveness, and financial viability.
- Collaborate with sales executives, client partners, and customers early in the buying journey to understand and align with business and technical objectives, guiding customers toward DXC capabilities.
- Architect complex, large-scale multi-discipline solutions that integrate various DXC services into unified offerings demonstrating measurable client outcomes.
- Coordinate and lead teams of domain experts, technical specialists, partners, and governance members by influencing and building consensus rather than exercising direct authority.
- Deliver presentations of solution concepts and DXC’s value propositions to diverse audiences including senior business executives and technical stakeholders.
- Lead customer workshops and pursuit activities such as requirements elicitation, design sessions, solution finalization, best and final offer discussions, and oral presentations.
- Oversee the sales engagement lifecycle from early development through contract signature and smooth handover to account delivery units, maintaining pragmatic alignment checkpoints.
- Conduct risk analysis of proposed solutions, define mitigation strategies, and support go/no-go decisions assessing delivery feasibility and business viability.
- Ensure coordination between solution offerings, financial engineering, commercial arrangements, delivery planning, subcontractors, and partner contributions.
- Establish trusted, advisor-level relationships with senior client stakeholders sustaining continuous engagement throughout the assignment.
- Ensure appropriate contractual instruments such as Statements of Work are correctly formulated and managed.
- Stay updated on the DXC service portfolio and actively share best practices within the Solution Architect community.

- A minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including demonstrated success in developing and delivering substantial IT solutions.
- Comprehensive IT knowledge spanning applications, systems integration, business processes, infrastructure, cloud technologies, and complex development environments.
- Professional fluency in both English and German, written and spoken.
- Proven experience in customer-facing roles including IT pre-sales, technical sales, consulting, or solution architecture, preferably in international settings.
- Ability to resolve client issues, manage stakeholder expectations, and craft winning solution proposals.

Skills & Expertise Required
- Broad architecture expertise encompassing IT outsourcing, hybrid cloud solutions, cloud adoption, application modernization, service integration, workplace technology, security, networking, and IT automation.
- Capability to design and govern large-scale integrated solutions involving multiple service lines, including evaluation of cost, pricing, delivery impact, and associated risks.
- Understanding how different service tower designs combine into a cohesive, unified solution.
- Strong commercial acumen relating to pricing strategies, competitive positioning, and integration of commercial propositions.
- Sound knowledge of industry trends enabling alignment of technology decisions with business outcomes.
- Full professional proficiency in English and German.
