Power/Electrical Distribution Operator

Job Overview

As a Power/Electrical Distribution Operator, you will be responsible for monitoring and managing faults, malfunctions, and disruptions within the electricity distribution network. This role involves coordinating both routine and emergency operational activities during assigned shifts, ensuring smooth handover processes, and maintaining accurate operational documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor and follow up on issues such as faults and interruptions across the electrical distribution network.
• Lead coordination of operational and emergency tasks throughout shift periods.
• Ensure efficient handover and takeover of ongoing operations between shifts.
• Prepare detailed shift and operational reports on a daily basis.
• Respond to and manage customer inquiries and complaints related to power services.
• Maintain comprehensive records of operations, maintenance activities, faults, and system performance metrics.
• Track operational performance indicators and assist in achieving operation and maintenance (O&M) targets.
• Collaborate with field and maintenance teams to ensure prompt resolution of network problems.
• Support the enforcement and application of operational procedures, safety standards, and company policies.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Technical High School diploma or equivalent in electrical or power-related technical fields.
• Experience ranging from no prior background up to 4 years in power industry operations, maintenance, or related sectors.
• Fundamental understanding of electrical and power distribution processes.
• Strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem-solving within electrical systems.
• Effective written and verbal communication capabilities.
• Capability to work effectively in an environment requiring shift-based schedules.

Skills and Expertise Areas

Competency is expected in areas including power distribution, electrical operations, fault and outage management, emergency response, preventive and corrective maintenance, operational and incident reporting, and adherence to electrical safety guidelines within utility operations.
