Job description
Role Overview
Join Royal Mail as a Postal Delivery Driver at the Donaghadee SUDO location in Newtownards, Northern Ireland. This is a permanent position offering a salary of £13.68 per hour, paid monthly, plus opportunities for paid overtime. The standard working week consists of 35 hours, spread over 5 days within a 7-day period, with shifts rotating Monday to Saturday between 07:45 and 16:00.
Key Duties
- Sort mail including letters and parcels at the delivery office.
- Deliver mail using both a Royal Mail van and on foot throughout your local community.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers.
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Role Environment
The role is physically demanding, requiring walking distances up to 12 miles (20,000+ steps) daily, driving a Royal Mail van, and managing high volumes of parcels and letters under time pressure, especially during peak times. The rota will confirm specific shifts and delivery routes, which may vary depending on demand.
Candidate Profile
- Must hold a full UK manual driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points, registered to current name and address.
- Capable and willing to drive a Royal Mail van daily and succeed in a driving assessment.
- Physically fit to endure extensive walking, climbing stairs or hills, and carrying mailbags weighing over 10kg.
- Dependable, self-driven, and well-organized with resilience under pressure.
- Customer service oriented, taking pride in delivering excellence.
- Comfortable working independently and outdoors under varying weather conditions.

Additional Information
