Role Overview
At Andaz Gold Coast, we seek a Porter who understands the significance of a guest's arrival experience and how it influences their entire stay. This role is pivotal in delivering a warm, personalized, and seamless welcome and departure for guests, attending to their luggage and sharing insightful local recommendations.
Key Responsibilities
The Porter will be the initial point of contact for guests, welcoming them at the entrance, assisting with luggage handling, managing arrivals and departures, and facilitating smooth transitions from the street to the hotel lobby and other areas of the hotel. They will provide useful local guidance, coordinate luggage storage, support guest transportation needs, and collaborate closely with the Front Office team to ensure guests feel well taken care of from the beginning of their visit.
Qualifications and Attributes
We look for individuals who are naturally friendly, confident in engaging with people, and comfortable with active movement throughout their shift. The ideal candidate takes pride in creating memorable first and last impressions and possesses excellent communication and interpersonal skills. They must be physically capable of assisting guests with luggage and adopt a practical, proactive stance to support wherever needed, especially within a lively hotel environment. A good understanding or eagerness to learn about the Gold Coast’s attractions, a collaborative spirit with peers, and adaptability to varied working hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays are essential. Additionally, a current driver's license may be necessary for some operational activities, and candidates must hold valid working rights for Australia.
Experience
Previous experience in hospitality, especially within hotels, luxury settings, or customer-facing roles, is advantageous but not mandatory. More important is the ability to connect warmly and genuinely with guests.
