Porter

Position Overview

The Porter is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and safety throughout the warehouse environment to protect both customers and employees. This includes promptly handling any spills or hazardous substances and ensuring that sanitation and cleaning logs are accurately maintained daily, complying with the company's HACCP standards. Additional duties may include minor facility upkeep such as paint touchups, cleaning wet pallets, and general lighting maintenance as directed by management.

Key Responsibilities

• Sweep interior and exterior areas of the building regularly.
• Clean and maintain all restrooms within the facility to a high standard.
• Perform cleaning tasks in windows, doors, and designated coffee areas as required.
• Manage trash containers and ensure proper waste disposal throughout the premises.
• Operate equipment such as trash compactors, cardboard balers, and floor scrubbers when necessary.
• Respond promptly to spills and clean them to prevent hazards in the warehouse.
• Maintain cleanliness of the employee break room following scheduled routines.
• Support department managers with aisle cleaning tasks when needed.
• Verify sanitation logs and adhere strictly to HACCP guidelines.
• Carry out additional duties assigned by the branch manager.

Job Requirements

• Effective communication skills to coordinate with team members and management.
• Familiarity with basic sanitation procedures and standards.
• Helpful to have some knowledge of operating floor machines, balers, and compactors.
• Physical capability to lift objects up to 50 pounds.
