About The Role

Join The Moorland Country Hotel team as a Kitchen Porter, a key role contributing behind the scenes to our exceptional hospitality experience. Located beneath the iconic Haytor Rock in Dartmoor, The Moorland offers an elegant and historic environment, known for excellent service, beautiful local surroundings, and outstanding food made from fresh, locally sourced ingredients.

As a Kitchen Porter, you will ensure the smooth operation of the kitchen by maintaining cleanliness, organisation, and supporting the chefs with essential tasks. This role is full-time, 40 hours per week across five days, at our location in Dartmoor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, equipment, and all back-of-house areas to exceptional standards.
  • Wash and sanitize crockery, cookware, utensils, and other kitchen items.
  • Assist chefs with basic food preparation and routine kitchen duties.
  • Ensure clean supplies and equipment are readily available for kitchen use.
  • Help manage deliveries, stock organization, and kitchen tidiness.
  • Handle waste and recycling conscientiously following health and safety guidelines.
  • Support the kitchen team during peak service times.
  • Adhere strictly to health, safety, and food hygiene regulations to foster a safe work environment.
  • Demonstrate teamwork and a proactive attitude, ready to contribute whenever needed.

  • Positive, can-do attitude with strong reliability and work ethic.
  • Attention to detail and pride in maintaining clean and orderly environments.
  • Ability to remain calm and focused during busy periods.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop new skills in a professional kitchen setting.
  • Prior hospitality or kitchen experience is advantageous but not essential.
  • A commitment to upholding high standards contributing to an excellent guest experience.
