Porter

Job Summary

The Porter plays a vital role in maintaining cleanliness and safety throughout the warehouse environment. This includes promptly addressing any hazardous spills or substances to protect both customers and employees. Additionally, the role requires diligent record-keeping of sanitation and cleaning activities daily, adhering closely to the company's HACCP program. Beyond cleaning, the Porter may also support minor maintenance tasks such as painting touch-ups, wet pallet cleaning, and lighting upkeep as directed by management.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform sweeping of both interior and exterior areas of the premises regularly.
• Maintain cleanliness and upkeep of all restrooms within the facility.
• Clean windows, doors, and the coffee station area as necessary.
• Manage and empty all trash containers on site efficiently.
• Operate equipment such as trash compactors, cardboard balers, and floor scrubbing machines when required.
• Promptly address spill cleanups in the warehouse environment to ensure safety.
• Maintain the employee break room in accordance with scheduled cleaning routines.
• Collaborate with department managers to maintain aisle cleanliness and safety.
• Ensure compliance with HACCP procedures and verify sanitation logs accurately each day.
• Support management by undertaking additional assigned duties as needed.

Qualifications and Skills

• Effective communication skills to engage with team members and management.
• Basic knowledge and understanding of sanitation standards and procedures.
• Familiarity or willingness to learn operation of floor machines, balers, and trash compactors is advantageous.
• Physical ability to lift weights up to 50 pounds safely.

Additional Information

This position ensures the warehouse maintains a safe, clean, and compliant environment critical to daily operations. The Porter reports directly to the branch manager and supports various facility maintenance tasks as needed.
