Pool Technician

Position Summary

The Pool Technician role at The Ritz-Carlton involves responding promptly to guest repair requests and effectively communicating with guests to resolve maintenance concerns. Responsibilities include performing preventive maintenance on tools and kitchen and mechanical room equipment, such as cleaning and lubrication, and conducting visual inspections of equipment. The role requires carrying necessary tools, operating equipment and utility shut-offs, and managing maintenance inventory and requisitions.

Key Duties

• Perform preventive maintenance on a variety of equipment including kitchen and mechanical room tools.
• Inspect tools, equipment, or machines visually to detect any issues.
• Operate shut-off valves and utility controls for equipment and buildings.
• Maintain and manage maintenance inventories and order parts as required.
• Use approved methods to communicate daily activities and issues to subsequent shifts.
• Possess or acquire knowledge in air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical systems, mechanical and plumbing systems, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, and energy conservation.
• Carry out surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood repairs, replace light bulbs and air conditioning filters, and ensure thorough cleanup after repairs.
• Test, troubleshoot, and repair equipment, plumbing (including plunging toilets and unclogging drains), electrical components, and general guestroom items.
• Program televisions and assist with housekeeping and engineering inventories.
• Observe all safety policies, including use of the Lockout/Tagout system when performing maintenance.
• Maintain landscaping, including irrigation sprinkler repairs.
• Utilize basic computer skills to input air handler schedules and adjust temperatures.
• Maintain a professional appearance and adhere to company confidentiality and asset protection policies.
• Provide courteous guest service with an emphasis on anticipation of needs and assisting guests, including those with disabilities.
• Maintain high-quality standards and foster positive working relationships within the team.
• Physical duties include moving objects up to 50 pounds independently and heavier objects with assistance, as well as navigating stairs, ramps, and ladders.
• Perform any additional reasonable job duties as assigned.

Preferred Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Experience in general maintenance, including exterior and interior surface preparation and painting.
• Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance preferred.

Required Qualifications

• Valid driver's license.
