Job description
Role Overview
The Podiatrist will play an integral role in managing a focused podiatry workgroup, delivering expert assessment and treatment to patients referred for specialized podiatry care. This role also involves supervising podiatrists assigned to the workgroup and contributing to various clinical, administrative, and developmental activities within the department.
Key Duties
- Conduct independent evaluation and management of podiatry patients, designing tailored treatment plans by applying specialized podiatry expertise.
- Communicate findings and progress to referring physicians and multidisciplinary healthcare team members.
- Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of patient podiatry records and ensure precise billing for services rendered.
- Regularly update personal performance statistics and adhere strictly to established clinical and service protocols.
- Provide supervisory support to podiatrists within the workgroup, ensuring professional standards and competencies are met.
- Engage in clinical collaborations, including participation in case conferences to optimize patient care.
- Support preparation of monthly performance and key performance indicator reports, tracking clinical quality, service standards, revenue, and productivity.
- Co-lead clinical research projects addressing podiatry-related outcomes within the service group.
- Manage therapy equipment inventory and assist in updating clinical protocols and standard operating procedures.
- Contribute to project management initiatives, departmental quality control activities, and development of new clinical services.
- Assist with budget planning, clinical education for podiatry students, induction of new podiatrists, and professional training sessions for departmental and external audiences.
- Identify training requirements for team members and establish strategic networking relationships within healthcare practitioners in the hospital system.
- Maintain continual professional development by updating podiatry knowledge and clinical skills.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Possession of a recognized degree in Podiatry is essential.
- Advanced postgraduate qualifications in relevant clinical areas are preferred.
- Four years or more of relevant work experience is desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills are required.
- Proven ability in supervision and coaching of team members.
- A service-minded, customer-focused approach with goal orientation and effective teamwork capabilities.
- Proficiency in IT applications such as Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, and PowerPoint.
