Job description
Job Overview
Alexandra Hospital in Singapore is seeking a Medical Technologist specializing in vascular diagnostic services to conduct various duplex scans and vascular examinations critical for patient care management.
Key Job Functions
- Perform duplex scanning of carotid arteries and peripheral arterial systems in both upper and lower limbs to detect peripheral arterial disease or aneurysms.
- Conduct venous duplex scans to identify venous thrombosis and extremity insufficiencies.
- Execute duplex imaging of visceral arteries including superior mesenteric artery (SMA) and celiac artery.
- Carry out surveillance scans for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA), AAA stent grafts, pseudoaneurysms, post-arterial bypass grafts, and vascular access to determine timing for surgical procedures.
- Assist surgeons in ultrasound-guided thrombin injections for treatment of pseudoaneurysms.
- Perform comparative vascular studies using treadmill testing, pressure measurements, and photoplethysmography.
- Ensure all procedures maintain patient confidentiality, safety, comfort, and dignity.
- Display clinical competency and proficiency in patient care delivery.
- Practice prudent and economical use of consumables and related supplies.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
- Participate in ongoing vascular diagnostics research activities.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance service standards.
- Collaborate effectively with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize vascular service offerings and awareness to meet patient clinical needs.
- Attend regular professional development sessions including lectures, courses, and seminars.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the reporting officer.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science, Medical Technology, or a related discipline.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities.
- Capable of providing support by covering for colleagues during manpower shortages.
- Demonstrates initiative to solve routine operational issues effectively.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- High level of attention to detail paired with critical thinking and technical aptitude for operating medical equipment.
