Job description

Job Overview

Alexandra Hospital in Singapore is seeking a Medical Technologist specializing in vascular diagnostic services to conduct various duplex scans and vascular examinations critical for patient care management.

Key Job Functions

  • Perform duplex scanning of carotid arteries and peripheral arterial systems in both upper and lower limbs to detect peripheral arterial disease or aneurysms.
  • Conduct venous duplex scans to identify venous thrombosis and extremity insufficiencies.
  • Execute duplex imaging of visceral arteries including superior mesenteric artery (SMA) and celiac artery.
  • Carry out surveillance scans for abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA), AAA stent grafts, pseudoaneurysms, post-arterial bypass grafts, and vascular access to determine timing for surgical procedures.
  • Assist surgeons in ultrasound-guided thrombin injections for treatment of pseudoaneurysms.
  • Perform comparative vascular studies using treadmill testing, pressure measurements, and photoplethysmography.
  • Ensure all procedures maintain patient confidentiality, safety, comfort, and dignity.
  • Display clinical competency and proficiency in patient care delivery.
  • Practice prudent and economical use of consumables and related supplies.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment at all times.
  • Participate in ongoing vascular diagnostics research activities.
  • Engage in quality improvement initiatives to enhance service standards.
  • Collaborate effectively with doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize vascular service offerings and awareness to meet patient clinical needs.
  • Attend regular professional development sessions including lectures, courses, and seminars.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the reporting officer.

Required Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science, Medical Technology, or a related discipline.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication capabilities.
  • Capable of providing support by covering for colleagues during manpower shortages.
  • Demonstrates initiative to solve routine operational issues effectively.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • High level of attention to detail paired with critical thinking and technical aptitude for operating medical equipment.
